AFRA Pakistan

Project “AFRA” – Advance Family Rehabilitation activities.

Ref. Sports & Recreation activities for Women in the Capital city of Pakistan.

FSP (Family Support Program) is a non Governmental, non-political & non-profitable organization working in Pakistan since 1995. The organization has multi sector approaches to rural and social development such as Health, Education and Skill development activities.

The organization is also working for the betterment of poorest among poorer communities in Rural and Remote areas. In Short Family Support Program (FSP), strives every day for one simple yet elusive Aim: - “A stress free life for 52% of this country’s population i.e. Women”.

Women; as daughters, wives or sisters play a pivotal role in raising and contributing towards a strong Nation and Economy. However, in the course of this struggle we realize that women face a lot of hardship[s when they go out even in a city like Islamabad.

A simple excursion to the Park can be a very humiliating and embarrassing experience for women. They have to deport themselves in a very circumspect manner so as not to attract undue attention from men. How can we then expect women to indulge in a simple activity like Jogging? While on the other side, men take such activities for granted.

A woman’s health is just as important as a man’s. Yet most recreational parks are inundated by men. Women do not have the privilege of a separate area/ space, exclusively reserved for them, like men’s do have in all sectors of Islamabad.

Having all these ground realities in mind; FSP is proposing a simple yet effective remedy. We are gladly offering our services to run a project named “AFRA”, with the co-operation & support of your esteemed department.

All we need and require from your side is:-
Sufficient grounds provided in sub-sectors bases, reserved exclusively for the women and equipped with various (indoor) sports activities such as :-
Swimming Pool
Table Tennis
Badminton
Gym or simple exercise equipment as we see in different parks constructed by CDA for men.

All these areas should have swings for kids under 12. This will allow Mothers, to have some valuable time for themselves without any worry or tension.

Space is required in the following sectors of Islamabad where the women’s do not have any recreation facilities or they can afford to do any such activities to amuse themselves.

· Sectors G-6, G-7, G-8, G-9, G-10
· Sectors I-8, I-10

Pakistan is a developing Nation. It is not possible to evolve into a developed country if we do not make space for its women to express themselves. Together we can achieve a lot if we accept a simple fact and allow it to be,

“Women’s right to live without fear & stress “

It lead whole nation into healthy proud nation. This is our & everyone’s responsibility to do the needful.
